Each model is priced against THIS manuscript and audit: what it is expected to use, and the run limit RIGOR recommends so every required check can complete. You pay only for tokens actually used, never the limit.
API budget
A ceiling, not a price: your provider bills what the audit actually uses. Every selectable tier guarantees the complete baseline report — the principal check of every applicable area. Budget above it buys the remaining checks and deeper verification, and the Recommended tier is where RIGOR estimates this manuscript gets an appropriately deep audit. Tiers below the baseline floor cannot be chosen — for a lower budget, choose a specialized audit.

The key is held in memory by the RIGOR process running your audit: on your own machine when you run RIGOR locally, and on the RIGOR server when you use the hosted site, for this session only. It is never written to disk, never stored in your browser, and never appears in the audit record or the report. Forget key removes it immediately, and closing the session removes it anyway.

Your manuscript is uploaded to the server running this audit and kept in a private working folder for the length of the run, because a model has to read it to audit it. It is sent to the provider you choose -- under your own account when you bring a key, under RIGOR's when you buy a RIGOR-run audit -- and the working copy is deleted when the audit ends.
Used to deliver this report, kept only while the delivery is alive, and then discarded. It never reaches the model, the audit, or the report itself.
